Appearance and Personality[]

Kersiraa has the appearance of an individual perpetually exhausted. She is small for a Draenei, bordering on tiny even. Much to her chagrin her voice is high and squeaky, and she often speaks softly as if to undercut her soprano. Underneath her armor, regardless of the weather, she wears a heavy woolen top and leggings, opting for the fabric’s easy cleaning and resistance to rot. Her armor is generally well cared for, although the scars and pit marks of battle are hard to miss. She carries a pair of firearms slung over her right shoulder, one being an ornate Draenei long rifle handed down by her father. Her eyes are generally highlighted with a heavy dose of kohl to intensify their glow.

The girl herself is young by Draenei standards, although her deep eyes betray a wisdom beyond her years. Like many of the youth who have survived the sundering of Draenor she was forced to grow up under the threat of war and genocide, first by the marauding Orcs, and then by the invading Legion. Consequently, and despite her youth, she is a woman with a no nonsense approach to combat and life. Long adjusted to an existence of constant movement she is a restless individual uncomfortable remaining in one place for a prolonged period of time. She remains a devote follower of the Light, although her faith in the Naaru themselves has been badly shaken by their lack of action during the genocide of her people.

Cursed with a short fuse and explosive temper, she often comes to regret her rash actions -- although she often acts out what she deems in the best interest of those around her, often times against their own will. Kersi is loyal almost to a fault, cultivating a deep sense of connection to both her friends and her people. Still, these affections are often left unsaid. She is, above all else, quiet and private.

Background[]

Like so many young Draenei Kersi’s life has been marked by the brutal war waged between her people and the Orcs on Draenor. Born the youngest of a lower class Draenei couple living in the hidden city of Telmor Kersi’s early life was one of happiness, despite the ever looming shadow of the Legion that hung over her people. While her siblings followed the majority of their family on the path of the farmer, Kersi instead grew close to her father, a man of some reputation as a demon hunter. Though Kersi, herself, would spend the majority of her life sharpening her skills on the local game she would come to eventually inherit his title: te Adare’nor, or, loosely, “the Nether-rider.” In the years before the war with the Orcs she met another Telmor native named Marius, and the two eventually wed, settling down not far from their parents.

When the war came to Telmor Kersi and her husband were away, but despite the fact that she would not participate in the battle the conflict changed her life forever. Almost the entirety of her family and her life were obliterated in that one day. Only her father climbed from the rumble and escaped to his daughter. Like so many Draenei she could only watch as the Orcs, whipped into a demonic frenzy, sacked and defiled Draenei city after Draenei city. With the fall of Karabor, and eventually, Shattrath City itself, Kersi and Marius disappeared into Zangarmarsh with the rest of the survivors. For years the Draenei did as they always had, they disappeared, and the Orcs, hungry for more bloodshed, caught only glimpses of the elusive beings. Eventually, the Sargeras possessed Medivh put into motion his plan to invade Azeroth, and the majority of the Horde flowed through the Dark Portal. Years later, with the Horde defeated on Azeroth, the remaining Orcs, lead by Ner’zhul, attempted to open several new portals, and despite the efforts of the Alliance Expedition sent to stop them the old shaman succeeded in nearly destroying the planet itself. Though the growing darkness drove the two apart, Kersi and Marius's marriage produced a child, Echesii. In a decision that would further alienate her from her husband Kersi decided that the camps were no place to raise her daughter. She eventually turned over the child to several anchorites in the newly established settlement of Telaar. Chesi, as she was affectionately known, would eventually find herself amongst the orphans of Shattrath City.

For the Draenei survivors in the Marsh there was little relief. The Legion moved to fill the gap left by the Orcs and pressed home their attack with a relentlessness the Orcs had never acquired. For Kersi, now a low ranking scout operating out of a small encampment of Draenei, this was a desperate time. To make matters worse, the fel energies infused into the land began to take their toll on the Draenei themselves, warping their minds and bodies. Many even became incapable of working with the Light, and for their deeply religious kin – already desperately pressed by fist the Orcs and then the Legion – the horrors of these changes brought only racism and persecution. In some cases, such as Kersi’s now estranged husband Marius, it led directly to murder. Fearing that the newly formed Broken (or Krokul in the Draenei tongue) represented either a direct threat to the remaining Draenei or were in league with the Legion several Draenei Vindicators stationed at the small encampment took it upon themselves to setup a number of the new Broken leaders and execute them. Playing off of Kersi’s deteriorating relationship with her husband and her temper the young Draenei was lead to finger Marius in a petty theft. He was quickly, and brutally, executed, an act that has, over the years, lead to Kersi’s own deep seeded regret, self-hatred, and distance from her own beloved people.

Eventually, with the addition of Illidan and his forces, the Draenei position became untenable. Many scattered, and others fell back, throwing in their lot with Velen and escaping to Azeroth aboard the Exodar. In the days and weeks that followed the crash of the Exodar Kersi folded into the Hand of Argus, working out of Blood Watch as a scout and tracker.

"Draenei Business"[]

Kersi would have preferred to remain at her post when she was assigned as a liason to a group of Kaldorei origins exploring possible trade relations with the Draenei as the situation with the Sin'dorei came under control. Quickly, however, she discovered that this organization -- named Fal Belore -- was much more interested in the Draenei themselves, particularly those who weren't simply satisfied with rebuilding. Kersi found that the group's sense of justice fit her own ideas quite well, and the freedom of movement that was provided by her unofficial leadership position allowed her to act upon those values. However, her relationships with those around her are often quite rocky. She views her fellow Draenei, particularly her friend Ursankov, as misguided and naive in their devotion to the Naaru, but often finds herself acting on their behalf -- often times to the extreme, much to Ursankov's chagrin. She is further mistrustful of non-Draenei, and frequently uses such mistrust as a way to maintain her distance from those around her. Her one solid relationship seems to be with a young Draenei shaman named Ianoras, an old friend from Telmor.
